Yeah, I was deleted and Cindy sent an email to say that it was because I posted a video which clearly outlines the stupidity of all this Climate Change crap. There has been enormous sums of money spent all over the world for virtually NO progress, but the average Derr is unable to think for themself, and simply says "Baa" , along with all the other sheep. Australia is making a big deal about closing a couple of power station while China builds TWO NEW POWER STATIONS EVERY WEEK. AND these Chinese power stations are fuelled by Australian coal. Spare me! The futility of our "efforts" should be glaringly apparent to anyone with an IQ above 27, and the huge future cost of electricity may just jolt their senses. But I doubt it as the sheep mentality will triumph. Unfortunately, the biggest asset many people have is their ignorance. Sad, but true. Cheers Your problem is that you think that you are the fount of all knowledge, and that the rest of us mere mortals are idiots who are incapable of forming a cogent opinion, or understanding the information that is put before us. And dare I say that climate scientists and their ilk are many, many IQ points ahead of a truck driver with no relevant background or experience on the subject. I can understand why the moderator would eventually tire of someone like that, although I personally would not have given you the boot. People like you are best dealt with via intelligent adversarial argument.

People like you are best dealt with via intelligent adversial arguement.Wow! Talk about coming out firing from both barrels! Bring it on, but I must suggest that you be prepared to be shot to pieces. First up, I never have espoused the position of being a "fount of knowledge", and your inclusion of yourself in a group that you class as "mere mortals (who) are idiots" is your prerogative. But, on some topics, I do know what I'm talking about. However, your reference to me being no more than a "truck driver" perhaps insinuates that I am a person of limited intelligence? My decision to return to truck-driving after a 20 year career in sales, where I earned waaay over $200k/year for only a few hours per week, with no overheads, was made simply because I enjoy the solitude of outback driving of 120 ton trucks, with no need to associate with "idiots". AND, for your information and, perhaps, enlightenment, my IQ has several times been tested and found to be over 160.Dumb truckie? Don't ever believe that. "Climate scientists" you say. Big deal. What is the alleged qualification to be a "Climate scientist"? "Climate change" has been happening for trillions of years.( That's 12 Zeros, or 9,000,000,000,000 for example) . NOTHING that Australia can/will do can have more than an absolute minimal effect on this so-called "climate change". With China building 2 NEW coal-fired power stations EVERY week, powered by AUSTRALIAN COAL . Spare me. And Australia closes a couple of silly little power stations in a misguided effort to "save the world". Yeah, right. Dipstick stuff. Alleged "Climate change" is nothing more a natural event, and nothing we do will have any more than an absolutely negligible effect on this natural event. P.S Unfortunately I still do not have the required skills to upload the subject "climate change" video to this site, but if you wish to supply me, via PM, an email address to post to, I am happy to enlighten you.

You consistently refer to Labor voters as having sub-27-point IQs. If I were to refer to conservative voters as rightards, I expect that you would be one of the first to take offence. As for climate science and climate change, I defer to scientific opinion, but I just don't care enough for the human race to do anything about it.

I have already seen the pro and against arguments numerous times. I don't wish to see them again. They have all been addressed to my satisfaction by the scientific community. Please don't waste your time regurgitating those same tiresome objections.

Please don't waste your time regurgitating those same tiresome objections. Because I understand that I'd likely be talking to a brick wall I already had determined that I would not confuse you with logical explanation of the futility and stupidity of wasting trillions of dollars in an attempt to alter what is no more than a regular natural occurrence. Enough of that though, for now. No, it was more my intention to address the problem of low-intelligence people being supporters of the Labor Party. The last thing that the Labor Party needs is voters who can think logically or intelligently as their voter base consists of members of the "Gimme" group who continually have their hand out, with no understanding of where their hand-outs come from. The Sub-27-point IQ people seem not to understand that it is impossible to continually spend money that you don't have on things that you don't need, and that produce nothing.Anyone with any understanding of economics knows that it is impossible for Labor policies to efficiently manage a country's economics for anything but the short term. Eventually they will run out of other peoples' money. The current situation in Victoria, where the Labor Govt has advised that the state is virtually bankrupt, is evidence of this. The exception is those people with a vested interest who stand to gain financially from Labor's policies, but I'll leave that for now. Labor is a party OF No Hopers, FOR No Hopers. No brains, and happy without them. P.S If you could supply, via PM, a contact email address, I will forward the PDF that clearly shows the stupidity and futility of spending trillions of dollars on something that you cannot have any significant effect on.

The simple answer to that, as has been explained numerous times, and which people with a 26-point IQ can understand, is that if all the less populous countries decided, as a bloc, to do nothing, then their combined impact would be significant. Moreover, if the world is indeed facing an existential crisis, then inaction by any nation becomes a moral question.
As for this "PDF", why does it need to be delivered privately? Sounds very conspiratorial to me ...

As for this "PDF", why does it need to be delivered privately? Sounds very conspiratorial to me ... Here is Mike's explanation. Storage space is limited without spending money and this forum has no income by choice.
I mostly agree with Yobarr's comments, particularly in regards to how pointless it is for Australia to disadvantage ourselves when our contribution means close enough to zero. Like peeing in the ocean.
I will add to that by asking "How much difference (in degrees, or more accurately, thousandths of a degree) would our contribution make if we fulfilled the wildest dreams of the greenest Greenie? And how much will that cost?"
Can you think of any business that would spend huge dollars without knowing the business case? Yet this is the biggest project the world has ever seen and NOBODY talks about those figures.
Anyway, I have kept this brief. If you guys want to discuss climate change further I suggest raising a new thread.

I put a joke on there which could be construed as a touchy subject, the first one had a comment that it was borderline. The next two have people jumping on board with them.

I assume you are mainly referring to the one depicitng 72 disappointed virgins. What a world we live in where someone could want you beheaded for posting it. Maybe Cindy was just protecting you.
I was appalled but laughed for a friend.
I am not aware of any other contentious ones. Maybe you should post them here.

People ask for advice on the GN forum, you give advice, it’s ignored until one of the chosen few give the same advice, also there appear to be the chosen ones who have been out of the technological loop for some time who keep giving the same advice on things that they did 10-20 years ago. FMD, things change.

It always seems to be the same in any long term group, a small number become elevated to guru status and usually they do have some good knowledge but they never know everything and, as you say, things change over time and if you're not in the industry daily you don't keep up.
The funny part is when an amateur has been elevated and later a professional comes along: the amateur can become *very* grumpy if his opinion is challenged. I sometimes find it with electricians who think they are also world leading experts on electronics.
My father had a saying: "In the land of the blind the one eyed man is king."

Yes, one of the peeves was electronics, my suggestion was to contact some professionals and ask their advice, this industry (solar and batteries) is constantly changing and what old mate did ten years ago is most likely superseded by a single gizmo. Phone calls are cheap and so are pencils and paper to write down the free info. Its mind blowing when you go to a trade show or an expo and see what’s available.
