For a long time (10 to 15 years) I have been buying Woolworth own brand six-pack tropical fruit juice in 250ml containers. I selected it originally because it was 99% reconstituted fruit juice (apple 54%, grape 15%, orange 15%, pineapple 10%, peach 4%, passionfruit 1%) and the cheapest of the real juice products. I have been very satisfied with the product over that time.
A couple of days ago I did a big shop, bought two of these six packs and noticed the pack colour and fonts had changed. I tried to read the ingredients in the supermarket but, even with my glasses, the font was too small, I bought them anyway - same price $3.
Back at home I went through the rubbish and found the last of the old style juice containers, my magnifying glass confirmed the old ingredients, as above, and the new ones as follows: reconstituted apple 30%, pineapple 4%, passionfruit 1%. So now 35% real juice and 65% water rather than the old 99% juice - at the same price! An expensive way to buy water.
To be fair to Woolworth the old pack read "99% fruit juice" on the front and the new one reads "35% fruit juice" but that is not something one readily notices - had it not been for the pack colour change I would not have noticed... except the new stuff is noticeably "thinner" than the old.
Back to looking for the cheapest *real* fruit juice I guess.

Another devious retailer one, unrelated to price, but product naming. I went to Supercheap to get some brake pads. They had a few varieties but the sales guy referred me to Bendix Ultra Premium pads which were on special (probably always on special). A nice fancy box with mirrored lettering to indicate quality. They also listed Bendix Heavy Duty but were out of stock. With nobody able to tell me what the specific differences were I thought "Don't waste time ... just get them". So I walked out with the Ultra Premium. Good brand and presumably up the top end of their range. Today I looked on the Bendix site to see what features these pads had. You would expect with a name like Ultra Premium they would have something to say. Nope. It's a custom model specifically for SuperCheap, and appears to be just a repackaging of Bendix's basic CT range ... just designed for average use. The bottom of the range.
Looking on the Supercheap site now, the Heavy Duty pads are very slightly cheaper, but only available on special order. The Bendix site shows these are the ones more suitable for towing.

Yep, they have been "at it" ever since I can remember. In days of yore everything was in guineas, one quid one shilling, now it's 99cents on the end.
The best one has to be 50% off. Since we can assume that there is some profit even at this figure, it say's to me that the goods were grossly overpriced in the first place, but, of course this does not mean 50% at all. To know if this figure was accurate one would have to have followed the everyday price for at least a month and we are not going to do that are we?
I guess that it all depends on how badly you want the item. I recently bought a Inseego wireless modem from Telstra for $453 only to find them later on Ebay for $370. Woe is me! It's called marketing folks and some companies do it better than others but, in their case it's called gouging.Certain airlines are extremely good at it.
