This forum software has a lot of capability and flexibility most of which I have yet to understand.
Anyway: I've just enabled the "Shoutbox" and I've enabled it for non members who visit in addition to registered members. God alone knows what will happen!
The idea of a shoutbox is that you can type short messages about anything at all and you may, or may not, receive replies. And because I've opened it to anyone on the internet we may receive lots of other things too. It's not intended for serious conversations but rather for throw-away lines.
I can clear the whole box and/or individual messages and I'll do that regularly.
If it doesn't work I'll disable it.
Let me know what you think... maybe via the shoutbox?
