Many will know that I am not at all tech-savvy, and this may well be a silly question, but I have just done tests to determine the speed of my internet on my iPad, through a CelFi Go Booster.
The results seem odd, as a test on one test-site gave figures of :- Download speed 31.95Mps, Upload speed 10.54Mbps However, the test on the other test-site I used gave figures of :- Download speed. 7.72Mbps Upload speed 12.70Mbps
Although my knowledge in this field is Zero, the results do seem strange, as the tests were done at the same time?
Is this normal, and do the figures look OK? Cheers

The first I would ask is whether the results are repeatable.

The first I would ask is whether the results are repeatable. Just checked again. Now 25.5 Mbps and 15.5Mbps. What does it all mean?

You will find the speed constantly varies unless the tower nearest you has excess capacity.
When someone starts downloading a movie, and the tower does not have spare capacity, everyone else gets their speed reduced. In remote areas with small equipment and a small number of connected users this will be more obvious. In a busy area with equipment designed to handles hundreds or thousands, it averages out better. But in peak times when a large proportion of the people are streaning video it is likely to slow down.
If you try at 2:00 am you will no doubt get excellent speed.
Telcos are supposed to quote the minimum expected speed in peak times. Sometimes demand overtakes that figure.

AWL's reply is spot on.
I'm currently camped in SW Victoria and have access to only one cell about 5km distant (700MHz band) the next cell is about 20km away.
My download speed varies from about 18Mbps at 3am to 6Mbps most evenings to 0.5Mbps at 5pm on holiday weekends. This variation is purely due to the number of users at the time.
Telstra is unlikely to do much to significantly improve the mobile network in the near future which is why I'll move to Starlink over the next few months. See my thread in the General forum.

Following your suggestion I again tested speeds ataround 2am and got speeds of 25.2 and 13.1 respectively. Now I understand! Cheers

Hi Peter, while there is little doubt that my iPad works fine at Albany, presently I am "in the bush" in NSW and the iPad seems slow. Perhaps, like me, it is getting a bit old so I may start to use the "spare" brand-new iPad pro that I've toted around for a couple of years. Glad that you enjoyed the food at Chester Pass lunchbar. When I was driving Roadtrains based at Albany I regularly had brekky and bought lunch there. They open at 3.30am, from memory, and the girls are fantastic, always smiling and chatty. Great food, great service. Cheers
