Bought fish and chips the other day and was charged $0.50c extra for chicken salt. Is this highway robbery or are things really that tough now?

Not that I buy fish and chips that often (been maybe 2 years) I would consider that gouging. At the supermarket a small packet works out at about $10 per kilogram. In the quantities a fish shop would buy, it would be much cheaper ..... maybe around 1c per serve.
If I had not paid I would leave their package on the counter and walk out on principle. Might rethink if there was no other option around but I would be telling them what I thought.

I'd pay anything to have good quality chicken salt on fish and chips. Invented by a south aussie guy would you believe?
