Just read that some smart-arse lawyers have successfully disrupted the efforts of Police to bring to justice the "alleged" driver of a stolen car that hit another car, killing its driver. Seems that the learned(?) magistrate has prevented photos being taken of injuries to the "alleged" driver, with his lawyers now claiming that there is no evidence that this person was actually driving the stolen vehicle, despite his name being supplied by some of his five passengers. Spare me! And we wonder why delinqent crime rates are soaring. With biased reporting from irresponsible press reporters, out-of-touch magistrates, bleating "do gooders", few actual convictions, "slap on the hand" sentences when offenders are convicted, huge numbers of recidivist offenders and little public support, is it any wonder that Police morale is at an all-time low? Lowering of required standards in an effort to boost Police numbers is counter-productive, with today's intakes of light-weight teenagers being little deterrent to crime, and no substitute for the Big, Burly Policeman of the past, well paid and proud of his job.
