You may wish to consider whether you wish to update to Wiki Camps version 5.6.17 released 25th June 2024 because this version introduces banner advertisements which is a bit bloody rich given that we have paid for this application. We are now, it seems, expected to put up with advertisements taking up screen spac and also pay the cost of downloading those advertisements!
Most people set their phones to auto updated and you'll need to turn this off to stop the update.

Thanks for the tip. I already had auto update turned off.
I use an ad blocker on my Windows PC but as Wikicamps is not browser based I imagine that would not work.

Note: version 5.6.17 refers to the Android version only. However a quick Google indicates the Apple and Windows versions also now include banner ads.

I have a spare tablet which I seldom use but it has Wiki Camps on it, a version about one year old, and I decided to update its campsite database. So, last night, I fired it up and set it to update the campsite database - NOTHING ELSE.
Low and behold when I checked it this morning it hadn't update the database but it had updated itself and is now at V5.6.17 - this despite the fact that I have automatic updates turned off for all my Android devices. Bastards!
This means Wiki Camps are ignoring the instructions I have given to Google which is likely in conflict with their agreement with Google.
I shall let Google know what's happing and we'll see if they care.
imo Wiki Camps is on a downhill slope and we'll soon see competing apps appear.

I had version 5.6.13 (I think) on my tablet. It would not open, either on line or off line
I uninstalled it and then reinstalled. It is now version 5.6.17.
While offline, (WIFI turned off), it opens and I can select a campsite, and the details of that campsite
It says that I will have to "Use WikiCamps online to see Reviews/Fees/Photos
Not much good if we have no internet coverage
There are no add banners while offline, and for whatever reason no add banners in Details, but add banners in Reviews/Fees/Photos
I agree that WikiCamps appears to be not as good as it was.
