So, our retired pollie Daniel receives an award for services rendered, Rendered to whom?, private construction companies who rub their hands together with glee when the government comes calling? Yep folks that's them. This man who presided over our biggest debt since WW2, gets the highest accolade for stuffing up the state and leaves before the you know what hit the fan, leaving us with a lame duck Premier who would be better suited as a children's nanny. Interesting to note that one of his cohorts in this farce, is a comedian! Now that is apt.
No doubt some of you will have seen my recent post on the other site on this subject so no need to resurrect all of the details here, suffice to say that it's about time in 2024 that this anachronism was confined to history.
"It's not what you know but who you know" How true.

Yes magnarc two very poor choices and there are many reasons why these two men should not have received awards.
I quite like the concept of a very simple honours system - just two awards perhaps, an Order of Australia and an Outstanding Order of Australia (perhaps with a better name). Politicians and public servants are ineligible for the awards for matters related to their jobs - that's what they're paid to do - rather these awards would be for "A contribution to the public good" or similar and awarded by a panel of people chosen at random rather like a jury - the panel to be chaired by the Governor General who would have a right of veto.
In addition I would like to see a single award for bravery which may be awarded to anyone the panel thinks deserves it.
An annual limit of, say, three bravery awards and 20 "Order" awards.

Yes Mike, I tend to agree with your proposition to limit the number of awards, particularly making politicians and public servants ineligible. Phil's post also makes a lot of sense, and I'm in concurrence with his assertions. How anybody can believe that an idiot that sent his state broke, and then abandoned ship before the ship hit the fan, is worthy of any award other than "Dipstick of the decade" is beyond me. But perhaps he who seems to not know his Rs from his Albo also could qualify if his current series of stuff-ups is any indication? I struggle to understand how these idiots can possibly believe that their actions will benefit anybody but themselves, and their political future. No hopers for No hopers.

You have to be nominated for these awards, list the nominees. Yes, I know Albo will get some minion to do this, but the minion is then responsible for their actions and can be questioned which may make them think twice or raise the $ize of the paper bag.
