News from the great Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia CEO.
No more Diesel V8's apparently although there was a vague maybe Japan may have some. They are trying to change the thousands of customers who have already paid a hefty deposit over to the four cylinder turbo diesel...good luck with that, aussies love their diesel V8's.

Yeah, last night on TV they had Ronnie Dahl, a dedicated Landcruiser 79 series V8 fan, road testing. the new 4 cylinder shit-box engined LC76 with auto transmission against the LC79 V8 that he's driven and loved for years. The deal was that each vehicle towed the same van over the same route to compare performance. Perhaps he was paid to talk-up the L76 with the 4 cylinder and auto because he raved about it, and pretended to weep when he "admitted" that the new engine was better. Yeah, right. As well as the 76 being a totally different car from the Heavy Duty 79 there is the slight problem, not mentioned, of an over-stressed 4 cylinder shitbox engine competing against a proven, vastly understressed V8. Perhaps the 4 cylinder might seem to be good, but I'll bet you whatever you like that the V8 will still be going strong when the 4 cylinder has died a natural death. You can safely bet that the prices of used V8 79s will skyrocket because those who have one won't be keen to part with it. What will the mining companies and Police do now, I wonder.

Hi Rod, Because, as far as I can recall, Nissan does not produce a V8 Diesel I'm assuming that you have one of the after-market Chev V8 6.5 litre models? If so, they are a fantastic vehicle with plenty of power, and sound the part. If not, could you please enlighten me? Cheers
