I'm about to make a major purchase of some lithium cells for my caravan and after a lot of investigation these are currently top of my list: Lithium cells and BMSThey will make a 24V, 202Ah or 4.8kWh battery which I'll charge from 800W of solar panels. They will run a 2kW 24V inverter and mainly be used for light loads but will occasionally run a microwave, and later, a 240V fridge/freezer. The caravan will remain a 12V system with its battery charged via 240V from the inverter; this is not the most efficient way to do things but it does make it much simpler to run a 24V inverter system. It's no doubt possible to buy these cells and BMS direct from China and save some cash but I like the concept of buying from an Australian retailer as, if things go wrong, I have a legal recourse. I'll update this thread as developments proceed.

Mike try Low Energy Developments here in Melbourne for a quote on your lithium. I have dealt with them for a long time and found them very reasonable and knowledgeable on the subject. Bought our 200amp from them, inbuilt bms coupled with Victron 400 feeding from 600w solar have not had any problems and they are always available if you need advice anytime. Phil.
Whoops forgot the ph no. 03 9470 5851.

My gut feeling, (I am not a techy), just by looking at the internet
There must be batteries and batteries, as well as BMS and BMS systems
We can see that there have been lithium battery fires, so some lithium battery/BMS/BCU/chargers, have got to be suspect
It would be good if all of us who have a lithium setup, could advise the battery manufacturer, type of battery, etc
I consider myself an honest person, and have had failure with the two following AGM batteries setups
Fullriver 100AH AGM battery of unknown (less than 8 years), age use or abuse, charged by Setic (Jayco installed charger) Bosch 2 x 120AH AGM battery, 5 years old, charged by Cetek 20 amp DC/DC charger, well maintained, but one battery failed
I now have 2 x 100AH lithium prismatic cell batteries, with inbuilt BMS, plus with external EV Power BCU (Battery Control Unit) purchased from EV Power Western Australia I charge the batteries with a Renology 50 amp DC/DC charger (in lithium profile), utilising 500 watt roof solar, and 160 watt portable solar panel I have had the above lithium system for nearly 3 years
If/when my lithium battery system fails, I shall certainly advise Usual disclaimer, the above battery brands/systems, are the only ones I have experience of

Have a look at solar4RVs, only use Victron gear and you shouldn’t have any problems
