Not counting Tassie, where are the coolest places in Aus to spend summer? The freezer is already full, so that is out!

Alpine areas are a usually few degrees cooler during the day, and a lot cooler at night. Kosciusko National Park or the Victorian high country. You might even find benefit from a diesel heater at night. And of course right by the ocean is usually much cooler. Somewhere that catches the sea breeze.

Go here: BoM weather observations
Next, select your reporting station, say, Omeo. Select "Recent months at Omeo" Scroll to the base of the table and you'll find mean, lowest and highest temperatures for that month. Scroll down a little further and you'll find data for the previous 14 months. By comparing different reporting stations (towns) you can get a very good idea of what sort of weather to expect at different times of the year. ---- In my experience the Vic High Country is not particularly cool in the summer unless you get well above 1000m (nights often excepted) and it had the disadvantage of significant bush fire risk. I'm heading to SW Vic for summer this year.

In the hotter months
The south west of western Australia, is fairly cool under the trees
The main problem is the lack of internet/phone/radio, in some of the state parks
